Squidoo SEO Tips

When using Squidoo as a means of leveraging your internet marketing, you will have to make sure that you are SEO optimising the pages properly.
The Google ads placed on your site are done so automatically by Squidoo, so you have no control over these. This is how Squidoo makes its money as they do not charge people for its services. The problem with this is that people will click on these ads and therefore leave your page, usually never to return.
There are options you can control your Squidoo pages, or lenses as they are known as. You make the decision as to what keywords you are going to optimise your lens for. This way you know you are proactively doing something to attract the search engines to the lens. Three percent is the optimal keyword density you should use on your site.
By bolding some of these keywords on your page, the search engines will them know that you have placed emphasis on them. There are also other ways of highlighting keywords in the text and one of these is to italic the words. Your main keyword should also be placed as close to the beginning of the text as possible, as well as close to the end, again in bold or italic.
Another way to ensure your lens is attracting Google for the right keywords is to use the keyword in the title and the URL. Using hyphens and not underscores when the keywords in the url have to be broken up is the best method. Also, it is a great idea to make sure you link all your lenses on the blog roll, which makes the task of Google finding the sites easier.
Getting many backlinks to your lens will also ensure that it achieves a steady rise in the search engine rankings. To get back links from other peoples lenses, you should leave significant posts on their lenses. Try and use most, if not all, of the above pointers and you will see your lens rising in the rankings.
