Internet advertising spending to keep increasing

According to eMarketer, Internet advertising expenditure will continue to rise and even more than double by 2011. Currently, online advertising accounts for roughly $21 billion or 7% of total media advertising spending. eMarketer speculates that in the next 4 years this number will increase to $42 billion or 13% of the total amount spent on media advertising. This spell good news for Google, Yahoo and Microsoft but also the small publishers. With more money to spent on advertising the cost per click should rise, especially for quality websites including blogs. There is potential for the smaller webmaster to gain from this increase in advertising spending. Expect Google stock to also continue increasing in value, if eMarketer’s predictions are correct of course.
