Digital Point and Auction Ads hacked?

Curiously, this morning both Digital Point Forums and Auction Ads have been down returning DB errors. Could it be a coincidence that both are down at the same time or have the two sites been hacked? Could it be a denial of service attack to both? I would think that both sites would make for a good target for hackers because they are popular and have some very valuable data about people. For example, Auction Ads has more than 5,000 members probably including social security numbers.
I sure hope this is just a huge coincidence and nothing more. I’ll do an update once I know more.
Update: Shawn has made a post to explain why there were DB errors at Digital Point. Apparently, a combination of limits set by the OS and DB software on the number of files that could be open at one time and some issues with the Google API that used up too many files caused the errors.
Update 2: Auction Ads is also back online since a few hours ago. There is nothing on the blog about the outage that at least I experienced. They were probably having server errors for a bit which is makes sense since they are getting hammered with new signups. I guess it was a weird coincidence that both Digital Point and Auction Ads had DB problems at the same time.
