I just don’t get MyBlogLog

After thinking it over for several weeks, I finally decided to create an account on MyBlogLog and also register one of my blogs (not The Dollar Factory but another.) I have read so much about MyBlogLog being great at creating communities, meeting other like-minded people and driving traffic to my blog among other things. To tell you the truth, after about a month using MyBlogLog, I just don’t get it!
First, how the heck does it really create a community for blog readers? I interact with other people who have common interests with me via my participation on niche forums. On blogs, I often get a chance to argue with others in the comments section. There is no lack of opportunity to be social with other bloggers and readers online.
Second and maybe most important, many of the people who leave messages on MyBlogLog simply ask others to join their community or just go and visit their blog. This is one form of personalized spam, as far as I am concerned; I will come back to spam on MyBlogLog in a second. Honestly, how pathetic must your blog be if you spend all your time messaging people and asking them to come visit your little corner in cyberspace? Blog authors are better off spending their valuable time blogging than begging people to come visit a rarely updated blog.
Finally, the spam situation on MyBlogLog is just pathetic. It is obvious that there are bots out there that try to join as many communities as possible and continuously post spam messages. These are not the personalized begging requests to visit a blog but the same tired sales pitches that try and get people to visit a particular website.
I really hope that they do something to fix MyBlogLog. I don’t know what that something could be and to tell you the truth, I don’t think that there is much need for this tool. After using it for a month and getting frustrated with all the spam and the begging, I have decided to remove it from my one blog and not come back to it unless Yahoo can really make it something of value for bloggers and blog readers.
