Finally, Alexa updates their web site stats reporting

Alexa has finally seen the light and they have changed the way their site reports Reach data. In the past, Reach was a number that made little sense to most people. As of a couple of days ago, they have changed it so that Reach is now the percent of users visiting the site. Sure the numbers Alexa reports are highly inaccurate except for the most popular sites on the internet, i.e., I would say the 10,000 most popular, but it gives webmasters some idea about how popular their sites are.

In addition to updating the Reach values, Alexa is also starting to report the rank of websites in different countries. It is not necessarily the most useful statistic but it can be fun to know how well your site ranks in Kazakhstan. For what it’s worth, The Dollar Factory is best ranked in Bulgaria at number 41,262.

My website went up minimally, however, now it is on a steady downward change, even though the number of alexa users has gone up, and the number of overall users has gone up. WTF? Any ideas?

I really don’t know. Alexa is not a metric that anyone really cares about. Large sites now rely on Compete.com for more reliable data.
