Just a week ago, CNN money published a story discussing how retailers made several million dollars from unredeemed gift cards. For example, Best Buy Co. reported $43 million gain from gift cards that had not been used in two or more years. Other retailers have reported similar numbers for this and last year.

In addition, many of us receive gifts this holiday season that we don’t really want to keep. At the end of the day, it is the thought that counts and who really wants to hold on to something they don’t like?

But what to do with such unwanted gifts and gift cards?

iRegift.com is here to help you. They will pay you real money for your unused gift card. If instead you have a gift you don’t want, then you can return it for store credit and then sell it to iRegift. Using the service is really easy. All you have to do is point your web browser to iRegift.com and register. Then, just fill out the order form and mail your gift card or store credit to iRegift’s offices. Once they verify that your card or store credit is valid, iRegift will simply mail you a check within 48 hours. It is that simple!

There are a couple of things that you need to know before you try to register with iRegift. First of all, the service is only available for US residents. Second, the minimum amount of a gift card or store credit that they purchase is $50. Finally, they pay customers %70 of the value of the gift card. That is, if your card is worth $100 then they will mail you a check for $70.

Unfortunately, they don’t send payment through PayPal but they promise to ad this feature at some point in the future. iRegift is definitely a great way to monetize your unwanted gifts and gift cards this holiday season.

We now pay 80% of the face value of a gift card or store credit.

Sounds better than good to me. No offense mom but I will be selling my $50.00 Blockbuster card to iregift.com. I just don’t rent movies anymore. I’m sure someone else could use it. And it seems alot easier than listing it on a auction site and waiting 7 days to get paid.
