Prevent bot attacks on your AdSense using AdLogger

One of the greatest things about AdSense is that it allows you to make money 24/7 whether you are actively updating your site or you are away on vacation. The only problem is that Google will not hesitate to cancel your account if they believe that your site is somehow committing click fraud. In fact, one of the worst things that can happen to a webmaster is to fall victim to a click bot attack while away from his computer. Next thing you know, your account is cancelled and you hopelessly try to get it reinstated. Good luck convincing Goole that it was not your fault, especially if you are a small publisher!
The good news is that there is software out there that can help you prevent such a disaster.
AdLogger is a small PHP script that you wrap around your AdSense code and it allows you to control which users get to see your AdSense ads. AdLogger can be set to disable the display of ads if the same user clicks on more than a fixed number of ads during a specified period of time, i.e., 12 hours. This script can trivially prevent click bot attacks and you can enjoy your vacation in the Bahamas without a care in the world.
Furthermore, AdLogger is a very powerful script that collects some useful information about the AdSense ads shown on your site. Specifically, AdLogger collects information about which ads people are clicking on making it easy for a webmaster to decide on better ad placement and targeted content. In addition, AdLogger can be set such that it serves ads from a different broker such as AdBrite if a user clicks more times than the given threshold. This way you don’t lose any revenue from honest people who are really interested in the products advertised.
The best news about AdLogger is that it is open source software and as such you can download and use it for free. But honestly, if you do use AdLogger and find it useful then why not help its software developer by making a small donation?
